Sperasoft is going to Game Developers Conference in San Francisco

This spring Sperasoft is going to Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA. Our company is involved as general participant of the event. The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is the worlds’ largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event. It attracts over 23,000 attendees. This is the place where programmers, artists, producers, game designers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry.

This year GDC features over 400 lectures, panels, tutorials and round-table discussions on various game development topics taught by leading industry experts. In addition, the event showcases all of the most relevant game development tools, platforms and services helping to drive the industry forward.

Here are some of this year’s highlights:

Our partners from Sony announced Project Morpheus, its virtual reality headset for PlayStation 4 which sounds extremely cool! Also Sony presented PlayStationEye camera, PlayStationmove, PlayStationmobile app, and the new interactive services available during live gameplay streaming. All of these devices and services can be used together to create new interactive experiences that are easy to create and share with the PS4.

Microsoft is also expected to reveal DirectX 12 – the newest version of its Graphics platform. What this means for Xbox One and PC gamers has yet to be seen, but it can only be good news. Finally, Xbox Live looks set to get some love with an expansion. Representative from Epic games spoke of the future of their well-known Unreal Engine, which our game development team is quite familiar with. It was great to learn new things to come from Epic. Rift Development Kit 2 is coming soon from folks at Oculus Rist, which sounds promising with its improved screen refresh times and thus less “image persistence,” a trigger for simulation sickness. Also Crytek is looking to turn CryEngine into a subscription service, ostensibly to make it more readily available to independent developers. To least all exciting announcements would be impossible, so we highlighted only a few. Stand by for more news from GDC 2014!
